Ok !Welcome to our class blog hub. This is where you will find posts for you to think about and link to wikis and other resources. If you haven’t blogged before, I hope you will take advantage of the opportunity and develop some skills in this area of communication. It is different from Myspace and Facebook and it does require that you follow some basics of commonsense regarding what you do and do not post. No full names, no addresses, no identifying photos should be on your blog. Remember this is a school project and you can leave the MSN type language for msn.
I have been blogging since August last year and I have found it to be really addictive, but very daunting at first. Try to attempt each post I set and gradually you will start to gain a sense of what your own ‘voice’ sounds like and how you approach the task of writing your ideas.
The second part of a blog is that it becomes a conversation, much as we have in class, but firstly with the other bloggers in our class and secondly with the wider world as we make the blogs more visible. There are some guidelines I will give you about commenting in a future post, but for the moment, I would like you to make a first post where you discuss what your reaction is to doing this and if you think it will be useful this year. What ways do you think you could use this to improve your ability to discuss your responses to the texts we study in class, to question issues we will cover and to generally develop your opinionative voice? Please also let me know if you will need some support getting started on this project- everyone will be at a different point in their knowledge! Happy blogging!
